Housecall Pro and Xero
Reached through an automation platform rather than a native sync. Workable, but it is not the QuickBooks-grade integration.
What the connection does
- Xero connects to Housecall Pro through automation platforms such as Zapier rather than the deep native sync QuickBooks gets.
- That is enough to push new invoices or customers across as they happen, which covers the common case.
What catches people out
Do not expect QuickBooks-depth behaviour
The QuickBooks integration is a first-party sync with its own settings and error reporting. An automation-platform connection is a series of one-way event handoffs you built. It works, but reconciliation, historical corrections and edge cases are yours to handle.
History does not come with it
An automation starts working the day you switch it on. Anything already in Housecall Pro stays where it is unless you move it deliberately.
What the integration does not do
For backfill and for checking that the two systems agree, pulling invoices directly is more reliable than replaying events you cannot re-trigger.
The practical API guide covers the behaviour that trips up anything talking to Housecall Pro directly, and the free MCP handles it for you if you would rather not.
Assembled from Housecall Pro's own documentation and public sources rather than a live test of this particular integration. Labelled as such rather than presented as a check that was not run. Corrections to hello@hcpapi.com are welcome and get acted on.
