Commissions & Hours
What each technician earned this pay period on your own commission rules, and how long they were on site, computed line by line from the jobs and invoices you already have - with every number checkable against the row it came from, because a figure that decides somebody pay has to be.
The problem
Payroll day, and the numbers come from memory and a scroll through the schedule. Housecall Pro records who was on which job, what it billed, and when the work started and finished - and never adds any of it up per person against your own commission rules.
So the figure that decides somebody pay gets assembled by hand, under time pressure, and cannot be checked without doing it again.
What it gives you
- Commission per technician on your own rules - revenue or margin, by role, on the work that qualifies, completed-basis or paid-basis, with the rule quoted in plain words above the number.
- A line-by-line job list behind every figure, because every disputed payroll number gets settled by pointing at a row.
- On-site hours from the job clock, with coverage stated first - how many jobs carried both a start and a finish - and impossible spans counted separately rather than averaged in.
- Jobs with nobody assigned listed as their own gap with their dollars, since that is usually somebody work and somebody money.
- Exclusions applied and named, with what they would have been worth - an exclusion nobody sees is an argument waiting to happen.
What you need
| Tier | API Key Required |
|---|---|
| Reads | The MCP |
| Needs | The free MCP plus a Housecall Pro MAX-plan API key you generate. A read-only key is enough. |
| Re-run | Every pay period. |
Your first ask
Once it is installed, this is the literal thing you type:
What it cannot do
- There is no time clock in the public API - a limit of their API, not of this tool. These are on-site hours from job stamps: no drive time, no shop time, no overtime rules, and never an hourly rate.
- Housecall Pro records who was assigned, never who did what. Assignment is the best available evidence and it is not the same thing.
- Margin-basis commission needs recorded costs; where coverage is thin it says so and offers the revenue-basis figure beside it rather than shipping one quietly wrong number.
- It is a worksheet, not a payroll filing and not a timesheet for any legal purpose. You check it before anyone is paid.
- Requires the MCP (v1.15 or newer) and a MAX-plan API key. A read-only key is enough.
Updates
Every purchase includes all future updates to this skill. Your book decays continuously, so the same job is worth doing again, and each version gets better at it.
The skill checks this site for a newer version when it runs. That request carries the product name and the installed version, and nothing else. There are no account details, no data from your book, no telemetry of any kind. If the check fails for any reason it says nothing and carries on.
Buying it
Sold in the Team & Quality pack: $39 one time at half price while the shelf is new for all 2 skills in it. The pack is the unit because a home service company that needs this one usually needs the rest of it the same week. What is in the pack. Lifetime is $149 and covers every pack on the shelf plus every skill added to any of them afterwards.
Questions about whether this fits a particular book go to hello@hcpapi.com , including the question of whether it is worth buying at all.
