Custom Reports
Three reports the dashboard will not build: billable hours from the job clock with scheduled beside actual, sales tax by rate on a stated basis, and job costing that never invents a cost or a labor rate.
The problem
Three questions come up in every home service company and die in the dashboard: how many hours did the crew actually put on jobs, what sales tax did we collect, and what did that job make after costs.
Each one has a way to be confidently wrong - phantom hours from office-closed jobs, tax on a mixed date basis, margin computed from costs nobody recorded. The recipes exist to prevent exactly those.
What it gives you
- Billable hours: actual from the job clock against scheduled from the visits, by technician, with multi-tech visits multiplied openly and office stamps measured instead of miscounted.
- Sales tax: totals by rate for a period, on a basis you choose and every figure labels, canceled invoices excluded.
- Job costing: revenue against recorded costs with margins labeled as ceilings where costs are missing, and labor priced only at a rate you state. Rows link straight to the job in Housecall Pro.
What you need

Your first ask
Once it is installed, this is the literal thing you type:
What it cannot do
- It cannot see wages, overhead or drive time - Housecall Pro's API carries no payroll data. Labor cost enters only at a rate you give it, quoted beside every figure it touches.
- Each report measures your book first - a crew that never uses the job clock, or lines without recorded costs, cap what can honestly be said, and the report says so.
- The tax report is a totalization for your bookkeeper, not tax advice, and it says which date basis it used.
- Statements moved to the Invoices & Receivables skill, beside the rest of the money-owed picture.
- Requires the MCP (v1.14 or newer) and a MAX-plan API key. A read-only key is enough.
Updates
Every purchase includes all future updates to this skill. Your book decays continuously, so the same job is worth doing again, and each version gets better at it.
The skill checks this site for a newer version when it runs. That request carries the product name and the installed version, and nothing else. There are no account details, no data from your book, no telemetry of any kind. If the check fails for any reason it says nothing and carries on.
Buying it
Sold in the Margin & Materials pack: $49 one time at half price while the shelf is new for all 5 skills in it. The pack is the unit because a home service company that needs this one usually needs the rest of it the same week. What is in the pack. Lifetime is $149 and covers every pack on the shelf plus every skill added to any of them afterwards.
Questions about whether this fits a particular book go to hello@hcpapi.com , including the question of whether it is worth buying at all.
