Job Schedule
Books a job from one spoken sentence, with a technician on it. Then reads the calendar back: jobs with no visit, visits with nobody dispatched, and technicians booked in two places at once.
The problem
Booking a service call is one sentence out loud and six screens in Housecall Pro. Find the customer, pick the right service address, create the job, add the line item, set the date, then the arrival window, assign somebody. An office does that dozens of times a week and every screen is a place to fumble.
Most often the last one. A job can sit on the calendar with nobody dispatched to it and Housecall Pro will not say a word. Nobody finds out until the morning somebody is expected in two places at once.
What it gives you
- Books a job from one spoken sentence, on the calendar with a technician on it.
- Finds the customer by street as well as by name, phone and email, and shows every candidate rather than picking one for you.
- Names a conflict before it writes. Outside your working hours, or a slot already taken, comes back with what is free nearby.
- Moves a booking, changes who is going, and undoes one, each shown before and after.
- Reads the calendar back to you: jobs with no visit booked, visits with nobody dispatched, and technicians booked in two places at once.
What you need
| Tier | API Key Required |
|---|---|
| Reads | The MCP |
| Needs | The free MCP plus a Housecall Pro MAX-plan API key you generate. Applying changes needs a full-access key. |
| Re-run | Every booking, and weekly before the schedule sets. |
This one makes changes
Books, moves and undoes visits, one confirmation at a time, showing the whole job before it writes anything.
Every change is confirmed individually with the before and after shown. There are no batch approvals, because on a live book that is how a small mistake becomes a large one.
Your first ask
Once it is installed, this is the literal thing you type:
What it cannot do
- It writes, so every booking is confirmed on its own with the whole job shown first. No batch approvals.
- A booking can be undone but the job record cannot be erased. There is no job delete in this API at all, so an undo returns the job to unscheduled and leaves an empty record behind. It says so rather than implying a clean reversal.
- Nothing it does emailed or texted a customer when it was exercised, checked against Housecall Pro's own record of what it sent. That is not a promise of silence. Your account's automations and settings can send on their own, and Housecall Pro sends its own reminders as a date approaches.
- Arrival windows are the fixed set of widths Housecall Pro accepts, so a width outside that set is settled with you rather than rounded quietly.
- A customer or a service address it creates is permanent, which is why it searches phone, email and address and shows you what it searched before offering to create one.
Updates
Every purchase includes all future updates to this skill. Your book decays continuously, so the same job is worth doing again, and each version gets better at it.
The skill checks this site for a newer version when it runs. That request carries the product name and the installed version, and nothing else. There are no account details, no data from your book, no telemetry of any kind. If the check fails for any reason it says nothing and carries on.
Buying it
Sold in the Run the Day pack: $39 one time at half price while the shelf is new for all 3 skills in it. The pack is the unit because a home service company that needs this one usually needs the rest of it the same week. What is in the pack. Lifetime is $149 and covers every pack on the shelf plus every skill added to any of them afterwards.
Questions about whether this fits a particular book go to hello@hcpapi.com , including the question of whether it is worth buying at all.
